About
My Story

Mike Newlin was born in London in 1947. From an early age, he loved sport and over the years played, to variable standards, in football, cricket, golf, tennis, table tennis and squash. Over this time, he developed a depth of sporting knowledge. This, with an ability to network in business led him to be the entrepreneur behind one of the UK's best corporate hospitality organisations. Mike used his lifetime passion for sport to bring entertainment and laughter to thousands of lunchtimes over thirty years and was a pioneer of modern business networking. In 2000, he collaborated with Tim Collings to publish, Reuters Century of great British Sport, through Harper Collins. Mike lives in Altrincham in Cheshire and is still an enthusiastic sports fan. His involvement with his local team, Altrincham FC, included coaching, Reserve Team Manager on two occasions and he set up the successful Youth team. He was also famously a Director for ONE night! But that is another story! Mike is married to Doreen and they are proud parents to four children and seven grandchildren.

REviews

I attended many of Mike's lunches over nearly twenty years. Reading this book reminded me of so many great times, and the stories from the Legends that spoke came back afresh. To have sat next to Tom Finney, Sir Stan, Geoff Boycott, Fred Trueman, Henry Cooper, Sir Bobby Charlton, Gareth Edwards, Broon from Troon etc etc was a privilege and a true honour. If you love sport and the stories that these great men and women have then buy this book. You will not be disappointed.
